How to Remove Background Image in Windows 11 Paint and Photos App: A Step-by-Step Guide
Microsoft’s popular PC platform, Windows 11, includes built-in image editing software such as Paint and Photos. These apps have features that allow users to change the background color of the image to a solid color or remove it completely without downloading an additional third-party app. Additionally, this feature allows users to remove the background from any image with a single click, just like Photoshop’s built-in functionality.
The Windows 11 Paint application can be used to remove the entire background of an image and replace it with transparency. However, users should remember that if they want to save an image with a transparent background, they must do so as a PNG file. Other file formats, such as JPG, do not allow transparent images.
With Windows 11’s built-in Paint and Photos application, you can replace the background of the image with a solid color or remove it completely:
Removing the background from an image with Paint
1. Find the image you want to remove the background from.
2. From the context menu, right-click the image and select “Open with > Paint”.
3. When you open Paint, go to the “Image” section at the top.
4. Click the Remove Background icon.
5. Wait for Paint to clear the background.
6. After that, you will see the edited image.
7. Save this image without background. Select the File option
8. From the Paint menu bar, click Save or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+S.
At the same time, paint also allows users to remove only part of the background of the image.
Steps to remove part of the background from an image
– Open Paint and select an image.
– Click the down arrow icon at the top “Selection” and select “Rectangle”. (Users cannot select the “freeform” selection tool through the app. Using it disables Paint’s background removal feature.)
– If you want to remove the background from a part of the image, use the rectangle tool.
– Once you’ve made your selection, select the Remove Background option from the “Image” section at the top.
-Wait for Paint to remove that part of the background before saving the image.
This is how you can change the background of the image to a solid color:
1. Select a photo from the Photos app.
2. Open the Edit Image menu from the top bar (or press Ctrl+E)
3. Select the background removal and replacement tool, represented by a person icon with lines behind it.
4. Select “Replace” in the right pane.
5. Choose a color from the color palette that fills the current background of the image. (If you know the color’s HEX or RGB code, you can enter it in the boxes provided to quickly find the color you want.
6. Once the color is finalized, you can either click “Apply” to apply the setting or select “Reset Background” to reset the settings at the bottom of the right pane.
7. You can either replace the original with an edited image or save the new one as a copy.
